Plasma levels of prolactin (PRL) and the butyrophenone neuroleptic benperidol (BPD) were closely followed 0 to 48 h after acute application of 6 mg BPD as intravenous injection, orally as liquid, and orally as tablets in 12 schizophrenic patients using a partially randomized cross over design. Drug concentrations showed application specific pharmacokinetic behavior with complete elimination within 48 h. All three applications led to a biphasic PRL response with pronounced initial plasma PRL peaks returning to baseline levels within 48 h. Shell/core differences in mu- and delta-opioid receptor modulation of dopamine efflux in nucleus accumbens

The mu- and delta-opioid receptors located at the terminal level in nucleus accumbens are involved in the opiate modulation of dopamine release in this brain area. However, recent studies suggest that the effects of opioid drugs on the core subregion of nucleus accumbens may completely differ from those observed in the shell. Numerous reports have highlighted the role of the endocannabinoid system in the addictive potential of MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine). A previous report showed that CB1 knockout (KOCB1) mice do not acquire MDMA self-administration, despite developing conditioned place preference (CPP). This contradiction could be due to the particular procedure of place conditioning used. The present work compares MDMA-induced CPP in KOCB1 mice using unbiased and biased procedures of place conditioning. A case of esthesioneuroblastoma, the pathological diagnosis of which almost always causes great difficulties, was investigated ultrastructurally, biochemically, and immunohistologically, using antibodies against the five known types of intermediate filaments [keratin, vimentin, desmin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and neurofilaments]. Abstract The study concerned the effects of chlorpromazine (CPZ), monodesmethyl-chlorpromazine (NOR1-CPZ), didesmethyl-chlorpromazine (NOR2-CPZ), and chlorpromazine-N-oxide (CPZ-NO) on the EGG and on dopamine metabolism of the isolated perfused rat brain. Isolated brains were perfused with 100 ml of a perfusion medium containing 30% bovine red cells (v/v), 2 g bovine serum albumin, 14 mM glucose as well as one of the agents in a concentration of 10 μM.
